We had the honor of having Phase Three featured on the wonderful, cooking blog, My Wooden Spoon. Lori Falcon, the editor of My Wooden Spoon, is a popular blogger and a Lifetime Mom! In the blogging world, she is known as A Cowboy's Wife, and she has a personal blog by the same name, that is a fun read as well. Lori's favorite apron is one of our newest, which we call our Vintage Fruit Apron. It was created using fabrics from the Sweet Treats collection by Darlene Zimmerman for Robert Kaufman. We love the fabric in this apron and how the fruit gives it a vintage look while the stripes gives it a modern touch. We are so honored that My Wooden Spoon featured it and highly recommend you read Lori's blogs regularly for great ideas, recipes and giveaways!

We haven't posted anything in so long. In our attempts to get ready for Fall shows and getting addicted to twitter, we have neglected to keep the Phase Three blog up-to-date. But, we have a lot of fun news to share and some pretty aprons in the works, so you should see us around more often!

New Aprons

We have two new aprons in our shop. The first one is a gorgeous floral apron made from the Bleeker Street collection by Michael D'Amore for Marcus Brothers. This is not your grandmother's floral apron. These is beautifully modern made of blue and army green. The second one is our first Christmas apron of the season and we are thrilled with the result. The combination of paisley and polk-a-dots makes for a fun, sophisticated look. It was created using fabric by 3 Sisters for Moda. This apron is a must for the hostess of your annual family Christmas party!

New Aprons!

We have been busy sewing and have added a number of new aprons in our etsy shop the past couple of weeks. We have this great Day of the Dead apron, which is one of only two you will see in our shop this year. The other one has a different waist band, so this is a one of a kind. It would make a great gift for yourself or a friend this October. This apron was created using "los novios" farbic from Alexander Henry and the pink fabric is from the Be Mine collection by Sue Zipkin for Clothworks.

We have used Amy Schimler's fabulous fabrics from her Creatures and Critters collection to design a new apron. This is a great apron for the moms and grandmas out there. The kiddos would love to see you dressed in this the next time you are cooking a special dinner for them. The colors are great for Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. You can pick this up in our etsy shop.

This apron is now available in our etsy shop. The panel is made of fabric from Amy Schimler's On A Whim collection and the ties and trim are from Ro Gregg's Keep Your Sunny Side Up collection. This is a great apron to wear this Fall and wouldn't it look great when you host Thanksgiving dinner? This is a limited edition for us, so if you are interested, you don't want to hesitate. Veggified

Okay, so we tried our first recipe from "Hungry Girl". We went for the yummilicious veggie burger wrap. We were very excited about how it turned out. We enjoyed it so much, we used the leftover ingredients and made them again two nights later. We made one slight modification and replaced the mushrooms with red pepper because one of the eaters wasn't feeling the mushrooms. When you try it, you should go with the mushrooms though, as we suspect the peppers made them a little drier, but still quite yummy. We garnished it with peppers on the side and some salsa and fat free italian dressing to dip the wrap. And in addition to a glass of sparkling water to drink, we also had a little red vino (for the heart).

We mentioned in an earlier post that we would be using several of Amy Schimler's fabrics in our Fall Aprons and we just wanted to give you a preview of a couple more from the Critters and Creatures collection. These should make for some fun aprons! We are busy at work on these aprons and they should be in our shop this week, so keep checking back.

Well, you have a Phase Three apron, you look the part, now if you could just think of something to cook for dinner.....

We recently purchased, and are very excited about, the cookbook "Hungry Girl". It is based on a blog by the same name. It has great ideas for cutting down on fat and sugar, while still eating yummy foods, like fudge and nachos. We will be trying out many of the recipes in the coming weeks and we hope to share many cooking success stories. If nothing else, we know that we will look cute doing it!

Amy Schimler

Someone who is fast becoming one of our favorite fabric designers is Amy Schimler. Her recent designs include the On A Whim and Creatures and Critters collections that she did for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Her stuff is cute and fun and her color choices are warm and gorgeous. We have already picked up fabrics, to be used in aprons, from both lines. Our favorite has to be this "bird" one. Birds are hot right now and the great Fall colors will make you head to the store for Fall-scented candles!
Also, check out Amy Schimler's blog when you get a chance. She is a talented woman, to say the least. We suspect that there will be more mention of her, in this blog, in the months to come.

Looking Ahead....

We have been shopping this week and we are really excited about the fabrics we have for our upcoming aprons. You can expect to see many of them in our shop in the next 2 weeks. We swore we would shop only for Fall fabrics, but we did some buying for Christmas and Valentine's aprons as well. In the next few days, we will preview some of those fabrics for you.

We have added some red,white and blue items to our shop this week. These are great for the 4th or for that someone in your life who loves Old Glory-inspired decor. We love them all, but the apron with the white panel is our favorite. (We promise that we will get better at taking pictures.)

We just completed this apron in Fresh Squeezed fabric by Sandy Gervais for Moda. Sandy Gervais is quickly becoming a favorite of ours. This apron turned out so bright and gorgeous, that we even surprised ourselves! We just put it up on etsy, so that is where to go to buy it. It's priced at $30, but we kind of hate to give it up.......

We have been selling aprons and handbags for a little over a year now, mostly to friends and family. Recently, a few "strangers", have started to purchase Phase Three items via etsy and by word of mouth, so we thought it was time to step it up a notch. We will update this blog as new items are created. We welcome your thoughts and ideas. While we don't do custom orders, we certainly listen when customers talk about styles and colors they prefer. We hope that you enjoy Phase Three and that it inspires you to cook, to shop, and to create.
